OFFICIAL VISIT OF ICYM MANGALORE DIOCESE – DEXCO TEAM TO ICYM-PYC GURPUR UNIT


The ICYM Mangalore Diocesan Executive Committee (DEXCO) officially visited the ICYM-PYC Gurpur Unit on 12th April 2025 at 6 PM at the PYC Stage, Gurpur. The program began with a prayer led by Venisha Saldanha, Liturgical Secretary, and Jyothsna Nazareth, Lady Vice President of the Gurpur Unit. President Lester Menezes warmly welcomed all those gathered. The event was attended by 20 members of the unit, along with special guests.

To begin the gathering, all guests and members gave a short introduction about themselves. Then, Mr. Nihan Sequeira and Ms. Riana D’Cunha shared their experiences with the youth, which gave valuable guidance and motivation. Following that, President Lester Menezes, Secretary Preema Menezes, and Joint Secretary Deepak D’Souza – shared their journey and insights. Rev. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of the Gurpur Unit. He encouraged the members to continue taking up leadership roles and congratulated the team for maintaining clear and systematic records of their activities. Rev. Fr. Rudolph Ravi D’Sa thanked the Diocesan Director and all office bearers of the DEXCO team for their dedication and continued support. He also requested the same encouragement for the Gurpur Unit in the future.

Mr. Winston Sequeira, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, applauded the Gurpur Unit for actively taking part in both diocesan and deanery-level events. He especially appreciated their well-organized documentation, which added great value. Later, Mr. Elvin D’Cunha, Editor of Amcho Yuvak, invited the youth to participate in the upcoming Brain Buster Quiz Competition and encouraged them to write articles for the magazine. Birthdays of members in the month of April were celebrated with warm wishes. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Secretary Preema Menezes, followed by the singing of the ICYM Anthem. The year 2024–2025 was a great success, thanks to the efforts and teamwork of the Director, Animator, President, Secretary, Core Committee, and all the members of the ICYM-PYC Gurpur Unit.

Pompei Youngsters Club - ICYM Gurpur Unit and the Youth Commission in collaboration, organized the ‘Yuva Sparsh and Red Drop Enlightenment’ on the occasion of National Youth Day celebration on August 11th in the morning with a Eucharistic Holy Mass. ICYM - PYC GURPUR HOSTS INSPIRING 'SAINTS LIFE' INTER-WARD SKIT COMPETITION

On October 20th, the ICYM - PYC Gurpur, in collaboration with the Youth Commission, held a heartwarming 'Saints Life Inter-Ward Skit Competition' at the Pompei Sabha Bhavan. Themed “Let’s Come Together and Strengthen Our Community,” the event commenced at 3 PM with an opening prayer led by ICYM - PYC members, setting a reverent tone for the afternoon.
